I love outdoor dining. Magerks has a great outside area. I've never had a bad server, and the food is really good. This time we had the gumbo and the crab nachos. To start we had the cheesesteak egg rolls. Always a must have. My sweetie had the gumbo. He said it was good. I had a spoonful, thought the flavor was great. My crab nachos were tasty. One thing to mention, the crab was crab dip style not fresh meat "crumbled" on top which for some reason I had expected. Didn't make it bad, just not what I was expecting. It's always a great choice to come here.

The first time I ever met my boyfriend's family was here (it was fun, I got really drunk, they liked me anyway). Anyways, I've been back a few times since then. On Thursdays they have $5 cheesesteaks and I'm all about that. I've tried a couple different ones, the plain ole #1 and the #4 (9th and Passyunk) that has cheez wiz on it, both were yum. Bartenders are always nice and attentive.

Everything I have gotten at magerks has been good, nothing has really stood out to me. Last time I went they had a good cider. I really enjoy the outdoor deck area.

We came here for $5 cheese steak night (Thursday) with a group of friends a few weeks ago and I would definitely come back. The food was pretty standard bar food but everything was good. In addition to the $5 cheese steaks, we had the tempura fried pickles (basically the only way I can willingly eat a pickle), onion rings, edamame, and pretzel sticks. Everything was good but the pretzel sticks were my favorite. Prices were pretty reasonable. Service was kind of slow and not super friendly but we had a big group so I don't know if that was the issue. The happy hour specials (til 7 on weeknights) weren't terribly impressive but it was snowing that night so I wasn't planning on drinking anyway. Parking is kind of confusing. There's a bank lot next door that seems like it's ok to park in after business hours, and there's a small lot behind the restaurant (that was full by 6:30 on a Thursday night). We parked in a lot across the street and were fine.

Tuesday is family night: balloon animals, face painting, snow cone stand and great pub food. More of this, please.

I came here on a Saturday night with a good sized group to celebrate a birthday. I did not experience the food, only the drinks and the nightlife atmosphere. I will start with the cons since, to me, they greatly outweigh the pros: Cons: the bartenders don't actually put any alcohol in the drinks. Seriously, I, a lightweight, had about 4 drinks and barely felt any sort of buzz. I confirmed thiz with others in my group and they felt the same way. They totally rip you off. I suggest pregaming or buying your drinks elsewhere before you come here for a night out. Pros: this is the only place in Bel Air that has a real dance floor and any sort of ethnic and age diversity in the crowd. Lots of young people here, and then some of the typical Bel Air middle aged crowd as well. Come here if you're in the mood to dance! This is it's only salvation from receiving a one-star review.

Sunday was an absolutely beautiful day to lunch outside, so we went to MaGerks to enjoy their patio. Margaret, our server, was on top of her game - she anticipated our every need. We enjoyed a Cobb salad and a Philadelphia Cheesesteak with Wit Whiz. Thank you so much.

Let me start by saying that a group of eight family members and friends have been going to McGerk's EVERY Tuesday night since 2007 (yes, 7 years) to have dinner and play Charm City Trivia. Over the past several months there has been a noticeable and unwelcome change in this restaurant. They have introduced a new menu which is frankly just like the old one but more expensive and still just mediocre bar food. They switched to using 12oz plastic glasses and plastic utensils. Even when trying to eat a salad I must request a proper set if utensils from our server. Speaking of servers... It's bad! The waitstaff is inattentive and lazy. They come to the table shouting out orders and then make us pass the food around until it lands at the right place. If your lucky you'll get one or two refills on your drink in two and a half hours. We are also relegated to eating on folding tables and outdoor plastic chairs. It's almost like they think we're paying a reduced price on Tuesday nights so we should accept this poor level of service and picnic like atmosphere. Most restaurants would LOVE an additional 200 diners and drinkers on a Tuesday (typically a slow night in the restaurant world). Tonight after nearly eight years we were given a letter from the management stating they were discontinuing Trivia Night. Maybe this is for the best as they obviously do not appreciate the business that this loyal group brings in every week. I would welcome a reply by the management explaining the dramatic shift in service and quality. Until then we will head to the local microbrewery to continue our routine Tuesday night dinners and fellowship.

Never been disappointed yet and it's my favorite tavern in the area.

Magerks has pretty good food, with good beer also. I also think once a month, they have a brewery visit the bar and it's nice to try something different. They also have outdoor seating which is really nice during the summertime!

Been there twice in last 6 months and have gotten the spicy shrimp wrap both times. Very good with just the right heat. Good service and open bar layout.

Great food and fabulous service. George, the bartender, is Def on top of things and a champ at keeping all his patrons happy. The crowd at this bar is much more satisfying than the one at looney ' s across the way. Everything off the menu that I have had was good and their wings are beast (wish they still had the all you can eat wings tho!) I've even been to a wedding reception held here and it was real nice and the bartenders hooked everyone up. Bathrooms are clean and that's a must in my book.

Their cheese steaks are actually pretty good! If you're gonna get food here, I'd suggest those. I once ordered "margherita flat bread" that was supposed to have fresh mozzerella, but in reality it was just pizza. Pizza that was posing as margherita flat bread by dressing up in some basil. Pizza, you're delicious on your own. No need to try and be something you're not. Service is always fine. Overall it's an average place I wouldn't go out of my way to frequent, but if "magerks, anyone?" shows up in a group text, I'm down.

Decent bar in a nice area. The general clientele was just fine, and there is a lot of space to move about. It's pretty clean, even the bathrooms are nice for a bar, and there's plenty of places to sit. Any time I've been there has been a decent experience, no loud live entertainment that hindered my conversation or obnoxious drunk people flying around. I didn't eat anything here, but the drinks left me wanting. I'm a tiny girl, but even after a couple shooters and a few margaritas, I barely felt a thing. In a nutshell, I'd go back as a nice choice in bars as far as atmosphere, but I wouldn't come here with the intention of getting anywhere on the drunk scale...unless I was really thirsty and had a lot of money to blow.

It's a decent place for lunch, but it's amateur hour when the bar scene rolls in. I'd rather go to Looney's up the street, but you have to know the owner or be an Orioles player to get a booth there on a Friday night. So we're left with MaGerks. Oh, you need to spend a minimum of $15 on your credit card if you use one. Lame.

Good for happy hour. Younger crowd at night. Some great specials during the week, specifically the cheese steak night. Not much of any Irish fare, the only thing Irish here is the name, similar to Looneys.

I have eaten here with friends and family over 100 times and 99 times this place was great, unfortunately, the last time I ate here in early March, my daughter and I ended up with some type of food poisoning. I emailed their site just to let them know and received no response back whatsoever, wasn't looking for any type of reimbursement , just some type of acknowledgement. I would still recommend this restaurant for its great subs and awesome dessert, but I won't go back!

I've never had food here-- just stopped by on a Saturday night for some drinks with friends. They had a DJ on the right room which was playing an eclectic variety of music. Drink service was quick sometimes and with quite a long wait at other points in the night. Mixed drinks were about $7 each and differed in strength throughout the night (with the same bartender). The ladies room was nice but not well-maintained. Glasses piled up on the sink and there was trash scattered throughout. The place was busy but not too crowded so I will probably stop back in for a night out.

Best nights to come here are on Thursday nights when they have $5 cheesesteaks. All of them are delicious and you can't really go wrong. They'll also fix it pretty much every way imaginable. Salads are also huge and the ingredients seem pretty fresh. Whatever you do, do NOT order a Ruben here. It was just such a huge disappointment. The portion sizes were tiny and the meat was watery and it was just not cooked right. It made the whole sandwich soggy. The maryland crab soup seemed like it came out of a can. A lot of canned corn, peas, and green beans. Basically the only thing saving this review is the cheesesteaks.

I had the Western Burger with bacon added - FYI they put an entire sheet of bacon there (i.e., nom) - easily in the top ten burgers I've ever had. The beer was cold and the service was great!

It's close to my place so I'm not complaining but they have decent food. The drinks are standard as everywhere else. Nice place to have large gatherings as well.

Didn't have food so just reviewing the bar part. The beer I had was good and they had a decent variety, though it would have been nice to see a better selection of craft beers. Service was good and the place seemed clean and well run. Probably a good happy hour place.

Been to MaGerks a few times. The first experience was a Thursday night, and we were surprised to discover it was cheesesteak night! We were promptly seated and served some brews and delicious cheesesteaks. The only thing that struck me as odd was that bags of chips were served with our cheesesteaks. Not crazy about chips. On our second visit, we sat at the bar and started with some apps and beers. The bartenders were very friendly and super speedy with serving our beverages. The food, however, seemed to take forever. I would not recommend the fried pickles. The tempura batter on them is just too heavy and soggy towards the inside. For entrees, we tried an O'Boh Burger, which was advertised as having "fried onions" on it. The onions were NOT fried. In fact, the onions were RAW and it was practically a whole onion on the burger. We would've been fine with FRIED onions, but definitely not ok with RAW onions. We'll probably come back but will try other stuff.. there's enough on the menu to try something different and not be disappointed. The atmosphere is fun, there are a lot of places to sit in MaGerks and the service is pretty friendly.

Everything I've ever ordered here is delicious and top notch. I try to stop in as much as possible. I really love their Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak Subs.... They also offer an unique eggroll filled with chicken and buffalo sauce. Check their website for weekly specials.. I also added them as a favorite on Facebook because they update their daily specials there. It's effective, I go there often and leave satisfied. The other pubs in Bel Air are fine, but just don't do it as well as MaGerks. I have become a loyal customer. The only negative meal was a Taco night special a few months ago....

Had not been here since they first change over from Uncle Georges many years ago. Was taken back at first by how nice every thing looked. The fireplace was going in the back and it was real cozy....We got a booth up near the front bar. The first thing we noticed about the booth was that the table top had lots of glass stains.....it may have been whiped down but the top looked like it needed a more in tense cleaning. Then my wife noticed that we had a TV in our booth, but it was so dirty and covered with splatter stains she didn't even want to touch it to turn it on.....someone needs a bucket of hot water, a rag and some cleaner and give this place a good scrubbing. The food was good....we both started with soups I had the french onion and my wife had the crab soup, no complaints both were tasty. We both had the cheese steak they were cooked perfect but were bland with out any seasoning....mine was the McGerk the french dressing was all gathered in the center. The service was very good everyone had big smiles and made you feel happy to be there. The manger came over to our table to look at a smart phone deal I had and at first I thought she might have been someone my wife knew she was so freindly when she approached out talbe. A good cleaning and this place would be perfect

Went on a busy Friday night. The cheesesteak was good and filling, but I had to pay extra for fries instead of chips. Good beer specials during happy hour. Service a little slow, but otherwise okay.

Have been multiple times and have never had great service. Always been slow on drink refills, taking orders, and checking up on us at tables. And this is both at a restaurant table or at the bar. Like the atmosphere. For a place that isnt super big they have it divided up well for whatever you are in the mood for. Beer selection is pretty meh. The first time I ate there we tried the cheesesteaks because it what we were told were good....i disagree. A lot. I got the regular cheesesteak and my girlfriend got the cheesesteak. I tried both, my cheesesteak was dry and bland and had one slice of cheese. The chicken cheesesteak im not even positive was chicken, looked and tasted more like ground turkey. WIll never eat there again except maybe some appetizers while hanging out waiting for another beer.

Wandered in here because we were in town for the BBQ Bash. Dean, behind the bar, was so friendly and helpful in our decisions for lunch that we went back to pick up dinner too. Great burgers and sandwiches. One person in our group had the crab melt and loved that too.

A well known restaurant in the area, but a major drawback is the smoking. It seems that smokers have to go outside, but they go outside to the dining area and smoke. It appears that if dining outside, then it is OK to be subjected to smoke when dining. If it is going to be a Happy Hour, then it shouldn't be limited by having to order at a bar for reduced prices. If you are dining outisde, it evidently is not Happy Hour. Happy Hour prices should be Happy Hour period. Otherwise, the food is good and service is very good.

Great pub fare. I especially enjoy the 7th and Passyunk cheesesteak (complete with wiz!) as it is the most philadelphia-esque cheesesteak around here. Service is great, and you can never go wrong with fries and nacho cheese. They serve most drinks in jars which is quaint, but I think I'd prefer a real glass as the jars do not hold much drink. Overall, a decent place to eat/drink in Bel Air.

Through some strange combination of masochism, intensive generosity, and possibly sheer stupidity, I volunteered to DD tonight. Got to MaGerks at about six thirty (I like to go out early, but jesus--OK, so we were out early because of this pseudo reunion thing) this evening, snagged what looked to be the last spot in the lot out back. The restaurant portion of the joint seemed pretty busy, but the bar was still pretty dead when we got there. That didn't last nearly as long as I thought it would. Perhaps Bel Air folk start their evenings far earlier than I'm used to. Or maybe it was spill-over from the strange pseudo reunion going on in the back; this was the reason my friends actually ventured out this evening. Either way, the bar was packed and rather loud by eight. Yes, eight pm. No mind. My friends all got, well, drunk. I ate. If I couldn't drink, I'd be damned if I wasn't going to get some enjoyment (other than that I got out of my drunk friends) out of the evening, and everything on the menu looked tempting when I was perusing it. I didn't try any of the cheese steak, but they've got about twelve different kinds on the menu. I had Cream of Crab soup, which was pretty damned good. I followed it up with the French Dip, which was just about fucking amazing. My only complaint was that the sandwich comes with chips, and I had to order the fries that I wanted on the side, instead of subbing them in (the fries were awesome too). The bartenders were plentiful, good-looking, and helpful, the drinks weren't ridiculously priced. They had bottles of Magners, which alone earned them the fourth star. I get the feeling this is mostly a townie place, but they seem to have a lot going on all the time and lots of room. I will never be a regular, but I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at the opportunity to visit again. Even if it is only so I can get my hands on that french dip again. My god that was an amazing sandwich.

We had great service on a recent Tuesday night! The waitress saw our large group, automatically added her 18%, and ignored our table for the rest of the night. Our order only took an hour and a half for the appetizers to arrive, and our drinks magically stayed empty. To top it off our checks weren't even split. Awesome job! ( We won't ever go back )

Good bar food. The atmosphere was also very nice. My wife and I went there for lunch on a Sunday and it was pretty quite. Service was excellent. I got a buffalo chicken cheese steak. I have eaten a lot of them in my time and I would eat another if I went back.
